Sarah Guillemard, MLA for Fort Richmond
The month of September is known for its new beginnings and many changes, especially when considering the weather.
Thousands of students begin a new year of school, and many educators are entering new roles in order to help our youth work toward success.
Fort Richmond Collegiate has a new leadership team with principal Janet Gray and two new vice-principals, Gemma Skelton and Jon Manness. Welcome to a great school with an amazingly supportive staff, bright young learners and a community eager to celebrate your successes.
Thank you to Lisa Boles, former principal of FRC, for your years of service and guidance. May you continue to benefit our students in your new role at the Pembina Trails School Division office!
École St. Avila is another Fort Richmond school that has seen a change in leadership, welcoming new principal Karen Loveridge and vice-principal Michael Moreau. Bienvenue dans une école manifique avec un avenir brillant! Merci a Mme. Cheryl Chuckry pour votre temps en tant que directrice et bon chance avec votre nouveau role!
I would also like to welcome principal Marilyn Kroeker to the Winnipeg Mennonite Elementary School at the Katherine Friesen Campus, as she begins an exciting year with the school.
To all the returning principals, teachers and support staff throughout our schools, thank you for the important roles you play in our children’s lives and for the time you take to pass along the love of learning to the next generation. Our world and society would not be the same without your input, wisdom and care. I look forward to working with you all this year to promote your achievements and join in the fun of learning alongside the students.
If your class would like a visit from their local MLA, I am always happy to share details about the election process and the functions of government with all levels of learners. Each year I have many schools visit the Legislative Building from the Fort Richmond constituency, and it is always a treat to return the favour by joining the youth in their own environment.
